President Dato’ Idrus Mohd. Satha is the President and Founder of Cosmopoint Group of Companies. When Malaysia was still in the early stages of developing her IT industry, Dato’ Idrus, an industrial-minded man in his twenties, was already well on his way to realizing his dream of owning and operating one of the biggest chains of IT training and education centers in the country. |

In 1987, he completed a BSc in Computer Science. There followed a Masters in Computer Information Systems in 1989 from University of Evansville, Indiana, USA. In 1991, he left his job as a Systems Analyst with a multinational oil company and took the fi rst step to actualizing his vision when he opened the first Cosmopoint IT training and education centre in Kuala Lumpur. Over the years, the innovative machinations of Dato’ Idrus have been recognized by various prestigious organizations. He has been accorded myriad awards, among them the 2007 Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award for Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year and the 2008 Technology Business Review ASEAN Award for Bumiputra Leadership in the ASEAN Education Management Sector for IT Education. He was also a fi nalist for ICT Achievers 2003, PIKOM 2003 ICT Awards and Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Malaysia 2003. In 2002, he was nominated to represent Malaysia for the 8th World Young Business Achiever in Manila, Philippines. The company also placed highly in the Enterprise 50 Awards in 2000, 2002 and 2003, under Dato’ Idrus’ leadership. |
Further to this, Dato’ Idrus holds membership in business councils in Canada and Australia, not to mention associations such as the Association for Computing Machinery (USA), and PIKOM. He also sits on the Board for Human Resource Skills Development Fund, Ministry of Human Resources, Malaysia. Dato’ Idrus has also been invited to share his experience and enthusiasm for educational and business success at various seminars and conferences both locally and internationally. His passion for entrepreneurship in ICT has had a lasting infl uence and enduring legacy here in Malaysia and he is proud to be able to help cultivate the Malaysian business leaders of tomorrow through his role as President of Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College (KLMU). |
